Second
wicket fireworks help Bloomfield
By Bernie Wijesekera
Despite a game restricted to 25 overs due to wet weather, a belligernat
53 -run stand between Saman Jayantha 66 in 70 balls (with a six
and 3 fours) and Indika de Saram 33 (Four sixes and a four in 18
balls) helped Bloomfield C and AC to amass 177 runs in their allotted
overs in a key Premier Trophy overs game against Air Force at Reid
Avenue yesterday.
The Air Force
winning the toss invited Bloomfield to bat first. The Reid Avenue
Club were 25 for no loss when a torrential downpur halted play.
Play commenced at 2.35 p.m. with the game restricted to 25 overs.
The advent
of Indika de Saram, provided entertaining cricket to the fans despite
a black blanket covering the square. He smashed four sixes before
he was caught in the deep when going for a big hit.
Today the Reid
Avenue Club take on Moors S.C at Braybrooke Place. A win for Bloomfield
here could see them to the last round.
