Indra de Silva Acting IGP
Indra de Silva who assumed duties as acting IGP on Friday has a distinguished record spanning three decades.

After joining in 1972 as an ASP, he served in several areas, including the North and the East and held top posts such as Director Public Relations at Police Headquarters, DIG Administration and DIG Ranges 3.

An old boy of Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda, Mr de Silva later graduated from the Peradeniya University. In 1980, he became an SP and in 1985 a Senior SP. He was appointed DIG in 1992 and promoted to Senior DIG in 2000. The appointment of Mr. de Silva as acting IGP was made by President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
