A
blend of art
'Blends', an exhibition of paintings, drawings and photographs by
Gaynor Ott and Lesley Holdsworth will be held from October 30 to
November 2 at the Artists’ Gallery, 18A, Sarasavi Gardens,
Nawala Rd, Nawala.
Lesley
Holdsworth studied art and design at school, and enjoys
pen and pencil sketching, as well as working in acrylics. She also
likes working on the human form, especially the intricacies of the
human face.
Wanting to
keep a fresh perspective, she chose not to specialize in art when
doing her teacher training. Instead, she kept at it as a hobby,
drawing and painting as a way to relax and unwind. Since arriving
in Sri Lanka, Lesley has dedicated more time to her artwork. She
is inspired by much of what she has seen, both in her travels around
Sri Lanka and overseas.
Gaynor
Ott is currently in Sri Lanka working as a volunteer on
the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development Programme. Her
training is in Civil Engineering and Commerce, and she is consulting
for the Industrial Development Board of Ceylon in project management.
Art is a creative outlet which reflects her experiences in Sri Lanka.
Gaynor grew
up in Perth, Western Australia and has won several awards for her
work. In Sri Lanka she has sought further training from well-known
local artist S.H. Sarath.
Her paintings in this exhibition are strongly influenced by Sri
Lankan landscape and culture, and reveal her interest in bold design,
colour, and texture. |
