‘Annesley
and Indrani in Concert’ with the Gypsies
‘Annesley and Indrani in concert with the Gypsies ’
will be staged once again after two years at the BMICH with the
dawn of the festive season.
It was in December
two years back, when the popular compere Vijeya Corea unfolded the
story behind the idiom of music, which ultimately came to be known
as the ‘Sinhala pop’.
At that show
Vijeya, in his inimitable style gave the packed audience a brief
but comprehensive introduction on how it all began.
Once again
on the December 6 at 7.00 p.m. at the BMICH, the much awaited gala
musical show will come alive with a variety of old favourites, a
show with a difference to bring back old memories to their fans.
The Programme will be compered by Vijeya Corea.
Annesley, Indrani
and Gypsies are household names in the country and even after 30
years in the music scene is still appreciated by many music lovers
judging by the packed houses for all their shows. This show will
be something unique presented in a different style in keeping with
the festive spirit.
They will be
singing favourites from the Moonstones, Three Sisters and Super
Golden Chimes to the music backed by the fabulous Gypsies.
The show will
be presented by Lions Clubs International District 306 A.
The District
Governor Lion Marcella Silva said the Club hoped to raise funds
through this project, very specially for their ‘Lions gift
of sight special programme’ for the Crusade against darkness
to eradicate preventable blindness - and also towards other special
service programmes needing their attention. |
