Gone
with the wind
President Chandrika Kumaratunga who was in Hambantota on Friday,
the first public gathering she was attending after she removed three
ministers and prorogued Parliament, faced a rather embarrassing
moment.
The President
was attending the commissioning of a water project for the people
of the area. Everything went smoothly till she began unfurling the
national flag. The flag in midway was seen flying off, the strings
had come off , the wind did not help, the flag was being blown away
quite a distance until it landed on the ground.
An apparently
shocked President walked off hurriedly. Embarrassed organisers were
blaming each other for the mishap. An invitee was heard saying "not
exactly an auspicious start to the President's public meetings after
the big political event". |
