NDB closer to Mercantile Tennis Title

Arjan Perera and women's national champion Dinali de Silva of NDB won their respective singles matches to bring them close to the Mercantile Tennis title at the SLTA courts, Green Path, yesterday.

Arjan Perera beat Arjuna Fernando ( HSBC ) while Dinali de Silva overcame Renuka Kurukulasuriya (Seylan Bank) in their respective singles semi-final matches. Dinali won the match at 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 while Arjan had a relatively easy time against his opponent, beating him at 5-4 and a walk over.

Perera will now meet either Aasiri Iddamalgoda or Dishan Herath (HSBC) in the final. Dinali will meet Senani de Silva also of NDB in a home-and-home final. The rest of the matches will be worked off today. Play was delayed yesterday morning due to overnight rain. Officials after inspecting the court decided to start the matches around 2.00 p.m.

Men's Singles( Semi-finals): Arjan Perera (NDB) beat Arjun Fernando ( HSBC) 5-4, w/o. Women's Singles( Semi-finals) Dinali de Silva (NDB) beat Renuka Kurukulasuriya 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
