Bandula heading for victory
Bandula Weerasinghe is shaping superbly well ahead of a strong field. He is also smartly within reach of the much coveted Clifford Cup and Centenary Trophy. He shot 2 impressive rounds of nett 68 each to beat Teppei Tanokura who also impressed with tidy scores of 70 and 68. Coming behind was Toshikazu Inoue on 68 and 73 nett and Manjula Karunaratne on 2 rewarding rounds of 72 and 70. The battle these 4 will move into over this weekend will be gruelling on both days and the stakes are high. Manjula is piping hot favourite with Ranjith Wirasinha the salt and pepper dark horse waiting on the outside to spring a calculated surprise.

Rusi's Gold Medal
Rusi Captain has made the Annual Gold Medal contest for the best gross score his sole preserve unbeaten for several years. His last victory on Saturday was a stunning round of gross 69 and yet another medal gets round his neck. Sadly the others who came behind were pedestrian class in comparison. Captain's performance augurs well for us in view of the impending foreign invasion vying for the National Title.

Impressive rounds
There was a pleasing harvest of refreshing individual performances. On the first day Senaka Kumara was absolutely outstanding with a stunning nett 64. A good third round performance and he will have the Clifford Cup safe in his arms. D. Abeywardena, Toshikazu Inoue, Bandula Weerasinghe, Shehan Ramanayake and Janak 'the Hulk' Hirdaramani settled on excellent nett 68 each. Chaminda Galagedera also known as Blackstonehouse and Anel de Silva moved superbly to 2 under par 69 nett and D.V.H. Palihena, Primal Wijenayake, S.Subramaniam and Sanjay Gunaratne appeared pleased with 1 under par nett each.

No returns
This is the confetti area which was loaded with stunning contributors. Outstanding were Joseph Sebhatu, Harin Udeshi, Ranjan Gooneratne, Mervyn Hettiarachchi, Tony Nadarajah and S.M.A. Hameed who also experienced massive doses of aquaphobia for the heck of it.

The weekend will be loaded with 2 rounds of highly competitive golf with good scores expected weather permitting. The pond boys have brought in larger cane baskets which is an indication that they know what they are about expecting a harvest from their benefactors.
