Curfew
in Kinniya after triple killings
A dusk-to-dawn curfew was imposed in Kinniya yesterday after three
Muslim farmers were hacked to death on Friday by unknown persons.
Trincomalee
SSP Upali Hewage said additional troops had also been sent to the
area as a precautionary security measure. The killings took place
when the victims went to guard their paddy fields in the LTTE-controlled
area.
"We contacted
LTTE area leader Tilak but he denied any of his men was involved
in the incident," he said. On Tuesday as Muslims celebrated
the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, two groups clashed in the town, prompting
the police to declare a night curfew. |
