Bloomfield, CCC fight it out for semi-final berth

Bloomfield and CCC who are fighting for a semi-final berth and badly needed a first innings win were kept waiting as their Premier League division one games were evenly poised at the end of the second day’s play yesterday. Needing to score 231 to win CCC were 185 for 7 wickets against Kurunegala YCC at the Welagedera Stadium. Bloomfield who closed their innings at 178 had Panadura SC at 73 for 4 wickets when rain interrupted play.

Despite the prevailing inclement weather Moors SC did well to take first innings points in their game at Braybrooke Place. After bundling out Tamil Union for 96 Moors were made to work hard for their runs as they were bowled out eventually for 154.

Nuwan Zoysa continued to show his batting skills as he hit a quickfire 66 which included eight boundaries as SSC reached 412/6 declared against Chilaw Marians. Jeewan Mendis top scored for SSC with an unbeaten 152.
