Golf up in N'eliya
The events proceeding the National Title 4 round stroke Championship
were quite successful developing a few encouraging scores.
Dudley
Senanayake Trophy
A 3 member team event for the best gross score went off to an excellent
start with Anel de Silva leading his team to a resounding victory.
Pathmanathan and Dinesh Kumara combined with Anel de Silva to win
the trophy. De Silva was outstanding P.R. Balaratnarajah led his
team with J.M.D. Indika and Mithun Perera to an excellent score
but inadequate to win. Balaratnarajah was the best of the trio.
Levers
Shield
M. Segar, Anura Rohana and N. Amerasinghe combined superbly
to collect the best nett score and beat Anel de Silva, Pathmanathan
and Dinesh Kumara to 2nd place.
Seniors
Evergreen Sunil Jayakody was in excellent from in home
territory quite familiar to him. He beat the dashing left hander
C. Thurairajah in the gross event and the man for all seasons Tony
Whitham in the nett event. Two creditable victories.
Levers
Cup
There was a classy display of excellent golf by Tissa Chandradasa
who won the Lever Bros. Cup over 2 rounds beating K. Prabakaran.
RCGC
Trophy
K. Prabakaran excelled with 2 great nett rounds to collect
this trophy beating Anura Rohana by one stroke. Nuwara Eliya was
buzzing with a hive of activities.
Half a dozen
top Indians vying for the National Title. Bangladesh appreared to
be pushing for recognition and the Sri Lanka duo Tissa Chandradasa
and Anura Rohana have planned to shock everybody. |
