Ajith writes Sumithra’s ‘Sakman Maluwa’
“Lankeeya Cinemawe Sakman Maluwa” a book on Mrs. Sumithra Peries’s latest film ‘Sakman Maluwa’ (The Garden) was released last Tuesday at Regal theatre in Colombo.

The young film critique, Ajith Galappaththi had written this book on the film which was produced by Ceylon Theatres to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The book discusses about the film ‘Sakman Maluwa’ and Mrs. Peries’s way of handling the medium of cinema.

Descriptive list of films directed by this versatile filmmaker and biographical sketch on her and critical articles written about her directorial efforts comprise the book. In addition ‘Lankeeya Cinemawe Sakman Maluwa’ discusses the involvement of Ceylon Theatres in Lankan cinema.

A set of rare pictures included in this book is an added feature and it is available at Ceylon Theatres cinemas at a special prize. The writer Ajith Galappaththi is an arts graduate of Kelaniya University and had done a diploma course in Mass Communication at the University of Colombo.
