Tamil
Monk to help Wanni people
A Tamil Buddhist monk has decided to start humanitarian activities
in the uncleared areas by assisting orphans and refugees in the
LTTE-controlled areas.
Ven.
Pandith Nandachariya, an American citizen, is to visit the Wanni
and meet LTTE political wing leader S Thamilselvan. The monk is
to donate TVs, generators, VCD players and video recorders to orphanages
which house around 6000 children.
The
decision to help the people in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi is being
done in a bid to build goodwill among all religions and promote
peace.
Ven.
Nandachariya has requested Most Ven. Brahmanawatte Seelavi Thera
to give his consent to rename " Kilinochchi Lumbini Rajamaha
Vihara" as " Universal Peace Centre" .
The
monk has been invited to the country by Rehabilitation Minister
Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena. |
