Jayasri
bagged World Music Award - 2003
Lanka’s very own Jayasri won the first place in the ‘Astrian
World Music Festival, held in Vienna, Austria in November last year.
The boys were in Sri Lanka for the festive season and were seen
in action at several concerts.
‘Jayasri’
took wing to fly back to Vienna as they have their commitments in
Austria. The festival was held in Cultural Vienna Congress Hans
Theatre. ‘There were 77 entries and they have short-listed
for ten entries after listening to our original work on tap’
Rohitha Jayalath said.
‘Ahura’,
‘Amarcord’, ‘Athena Duo’, ‘Barbara
Stormberger Insingizi’, ‘Monika Stadler’, ‘Nenad
Vasilic’ ‘Balkan Band’, Nifty’s Salah Addin
& Friends,’ ‘Son Dos’ and Jayasri were the
finalists of World Music Festival.
‘The
final round was the live performance round and we have to perform
in front of a panel of judges. It was a great achievement for us
to win this grand tittle’, Rohitha said.
‘Juliet,
Lankan Raga (Kolam) and Sheela are the three songs we played for
our final performances in November,’ he said. They will be
in Sri Lanka with their full band to perform during this year’s
festive season in December. That was Jayasri’s promise for
their fans.
