Soma online US website disturbs Buddhists
A pill by the name of "Gangodawila Soma" has come to light, after it was introduced by the website of a US based "Online Pharmacy", which "prescribes medications online" and "ships overnight to the door" of the customer.

The website www.buysoma1.com based in Florida U.S.A, advertises for online sale a muscle-relaxant drug "soma" (generic name- Carisoprodol).

The website however has two related links to "Gangodawila Soma" and "Soma Thera". Although the site has 37 related links they lead to the homepage of www.buysoma1.com

The page advertises two quantities of 60 and 90 tablets at US $ 80 and 107 respectively. However the customer is given a discount of US $ 50 and 15 for consultation and shipping respectively. The drug could be bought online by paying via credit card. It states that the "central office" is located at "Prescription-Pro.com, 881 E Oakland Park Blvd # 307, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33306" as its address.

Ven. Dhammasiri Thera of the Maharagama Dharmayathanaya told The Sunday Times that the Buddhist community was very disturbed to find that the name of Ven. Gangodawila Soma Thera has been used in a very demeaning way to humiliate the thera. He also said that although they were ready to take action they were unable to do so as the authenticity of the site cannot be verified.
