Police Chief Indra de Silva says he is unaware of a ceremonial police salute at Seeduwa in honour of the late Vijaya Kumaratunga to commemorate his 16th death anniversary.

The IGP told The Sunday Times that he gave no permission for such a police salute. However, the official who gave the command for the salute told The Sunday Times that the order came from a "higher authority". Meanwhile, the IGP has instructed CID to probe an incident where an Indian model was dressed in a police uniform and performed a dance at a Colombo bridal fair without obtaining permission from authorities.
