Eddie
Gray a 'Golden Oldie' from Royal College will be here on Feb. 27
along with Dr. Quintus de Zylwa, Sri Lanka's representative to the
Australian Cricket Board.
Gray
though greying has not lost his vim and vigour will be there to
participate in the 125th anniversary celebrations of that great
happening -the Royal-Thomian cricket match. Speaking on the 'phone
from Melbourne, Australia he said that he had the privilege of watching
the Centenary Game in 1979 and happy to be there to meet old friends
to bring back nostalgic memories.
Doyen
of Sri Lanka boxing and has done much to so uplift his motherland's
image as an administrator or otherwise in the past. He still continues
to help though domiciled Down Under.
He
had witnessed two medal winning efforts by the Lankans at the Olympics.
In 1948, at Wembley when legendary Duncan White ran the race of
his life to earn a silver -the first to do so. In the last Sydney
Olympics he was Sri Lanka's Rep. when Susanthika Jayasinghe emerged
as the first woman to do proud for Sri Lanka with a medal. Gray
said, that he will be meeting his old rugby friends at the CR and
FC, Rudra Rajasingham, Mahes Rodrigo, Summa Navaratnam etc., for
a happy re-union and get-together.
Dr.
Quintus, was here for the last English cricket tour marred by fickle
weather will be watching the test series against Australia. He will
also he on a fact-finding mission to spot any talented schoolboys,
who could be sponsored to study and play in Victoria.
The
Sri Lanka Cricket Foundation in Victoria has done this in the past
with the support rendered by the Lankan expatriates.

Edirisinghe an old Royalist -a member of the Mustang said, Shaw
Wilson, who led the Royalists in 1964, while the Thomians led by
late Premalal Gunasekera won the match. Wilson, will be here on
time for the old boys match. Wilson is now serving as a senior headmaster
in a leading High School in Victoria.
