ITN,
Lak Handa go world wide
Independent Television Network (ITN) and the Lakhanda Radio in association
with TV Lanka will launch a World Service on Monday, March 8.
At
present TV Lanka International is actively engaged in broadcast
for 24 hours to many parts of the world. The new arrangement will
facilitate the ITN though one of the channels of TV Lanka to telecast
special programmes for three hours daily from 9.00 pm. to midnight,
local time.
ITN
press release said, it has planned to broadcast up to date news
and current affairs as well as religious, cultural, social, musical
and drama programmes for the benefit of Sri Lankans who are living
all over the world. The daily Lankhanda transmission from 5.00 am,
to mid night can also be heard uninterruptedly by Sri Lankans abroad.
Incidentally
launching of this World Service coincides with the 25th anniversary
of the Independent Television Network, a pioneer TV station in Sri
Lanka. Minister Kadirgamar will inaugurate this new world Service
at 9.00 pm on Monday. |
