Trinity-Antonian;
dull boring affair
The 88th Big Match at Katugastota turned out to be a dull, boring
affair as the Antonians made no effort whatever to force the pace.
Present indications are that they will continue in the same vein
when play continues on Sunday.
Electing
to bat, the home team were given a slow but solid start by openers
Medagoda and Vithanage. However, two wickets apiece to Pathirana
and Fernando saw the Antonians slide to 74 for 4.
Skipper
Rizlan, who top-scored with 34 and diminutive Munaz, added a sedate
50 to push the Antonians towards respectability. Rislan opened out
twice to loft Pathirana and Dumbarage for sixes.
Mendis
and Dumbarage induced a middle-order collapse later on. Two and
a quarterhours of play was lost to rain.
