Special
buses for uncleared area voters
Voters living in LTTE- eld areas in the north will be transported
at state expense to vote on April 2 at polling booths established
in cleared areas.
Reports
said Rs. 5 million had been released to the Kilinochchi Government
agent to make arrangements for the transport of voters from Kilinochchi,
Mullaitivu and other areas of Wanni to cluster polling booths at
Muhamalai in the north or Omanthai in the south.
Sixty-one
polling booths were being set up in cleared areas. Some 63,000 voters
in uncleared areas have been informed that buses will leave at 7

or other identification documents and not to carry unnecessary baggage.
Arrangements
are also being made to give them tea. Meanwhile the LTTE has also
drawn up plans for voters from uncleared areas to proceed to cleared
areas on election day. The LTTE is to provide tokens by which voters
could obtain free meals and accommodation in schools and temples
of the cleared areas. |
