JVP announces its Cabinet Reps.
The JVP has announced its nominees for the cabinet in a future UPFA Alliance government. JVP's propaganda secretary Wimal Weerawansa is telling public rallies his party members will have the portfolios of Agriculture, Lands and Irrigation; Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; Rural Development. He has picked himself as Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

SLFP members are protesting that the JVP in publicly claiming important portfolios was trying to get extra advantage for its candidates. Besides the four key ministries, the JVP is also laying claim to four deputy ministerships.

An SLFP member in the south claimed that JVP candidate Pemasiri Manage, a former Provincial Council member, was canvassing for preferential votes claiming to be the next deputy minister of fisheries. Senior SLFPers said that by naming portfolios the JVP was targeting the votes of fisherfolk in the Southern coastal belt.
