‘Piano
and Drums’, a unique programme of Music and poetry presented
by Thomian Drama Society will be staged on June 10, 11 and 12 at
the Russian Cultural Centre. The Thomian ‘Dram Soc’,
which is, now in its 132nd Year, is gearing up to have a show with
a difference. It’s not a play this time, it’s a fusion
of music and poetry.
A
first ever type of show, promises to be an evening of relaxation
and wonder, as ten Thomians, highly talented in their respective
musical talents perform a range of music. The show titled ‘Piano
and Drums’ is derived from the inspiring poem by Gabriel Okara,
which speaks of two types of cultures. And it’s exactly that
which the Thomian musicians are currently working on.
Why
poems? Well, the music performed at the show has some part to play
either in emotion or historical context. Therefore what better way
of communicating feelings other than through music and poetry?
The
Show is designed and directed by Vinodh Senadeera, who is the director
and Master in Charge of the Drama Society of S. Thomas’ College.
