The soldiers had a field day and dominated day two of the Intermediate Boxing Meet at the Amateur Boxing Association(ABA) Quarter finals conducted at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Army had a good day winning most of the bouts but the best match of the evening was in the Middle weight Under 75 kgs category where M.Granville of Prisons and R. Sisira Kumara of Navy went hammer and tongs at each other and the former just edged the other out on points 29 to 24.

In the Middle weight Under 75 kgs, L.Weerathunga of Army had another close encounter when he defeated W.Fernando of Navy 18 points to 16. The Police were involved when Kamal Bandara of Police retired in round 2 in the bout against J.Pathirna(Vidyatha BC).

D.Fernando (Army) received a walkover from D. Bandara (YMCA Kandy) which helped the Army in their domination of the days events. Next came the gruelling encounter between M.Granville (Prisons) who beat R.Kumara (Navy) 29/24.

In the Heavy Weight under 81 kgs category this time Kumara of Police knocked out R.Rajapakse of Navy in the 1st round and Yahiya of Carey BC defeated I.Ishara of Vidyartha BC when the referee stopped the match in round 1.

The Super heavy weight over 91kgs class proved to be interesting when there again it was the heavier Forces lads who stood out. P.Kumara (Army) received a walkover from D. Doluweera, and V. Premaratne (Veyangoda BC). P.Patabendi (Seevali BC) beat R. Kumara (Navy) Referee stopped match in round one.
