CH
forwards stomp over Army
CH & FC 36, Army 11
By Bernie Wijesekera
CH & FC back division co-ordinating and playing with better
rugby skills ran amok to have Army retreating to post a 36 points
(four goals, a try and a penalty) to 11 ( a try and two penalty
goals) to remain unbeaten in the Caltex "A" division rugby
match played in sultry conditions at Maitland Crescent last evening.
At
the turn around CH were leading 12-8.
Of course the Army defence was in a state of disarray. The soldiers
played well in patches but never played to a plan.
Frontline contenders
CH
and FC who are frontline contenders for the league. Fullback Nalin
Dissanayake without doubt was the man of the match. Dissanayake
who formed the overlap regularly and played excellently be it in
attack or in defence with his deep kicks to touch. He had a hand
for all points to CH's tally. He converted four tries and also put
over a penalty.
In
the second half it was most eye-catching with CH foreigners accounting
for four tries. No. 8 Kinijoji Ragata planted two tries through
utility player Noa Nawagarua. The duo displayed immense power, and
stamina. Winger Dinesh Kumara scored the other try.Nalin had a big
hand for three of these tries.
T.A.
Silva's kick lacked direction. But Silva put over two penalties.
