"Taichi
for life" starts at Hotel Taj Sports Centre
Thaijiquan or popularly known as "Taichi", a time honoured
traditional Wushu physical exercise will be properly introduced
to Sri Lankan sports lovers and health conscious people on coming
Tuesday (1st of June) at Hotel Taj Samudra Sports Centre at 6.30
p.m.
Taichi
has been very popular among the people since ancient days and centuries
of practice have testified its value in prevention of many diseases,
improve health condition and prolong life. Taichi is almost suited
to anybody regardless of age, sex or physique. It is an excellent
therapeutic exercise particularly for the feeble and chronically
diseased. In Taichi all actions are directed by the mind or rather
mental images. Thus there will be no excessive mental strain or
fatigue in practice.
The
main benefits you can get from practicing "Taichi" is
it improves the function of the central nervous system, improves
cardiovascular and respiratory system and does lot of good to the
skeleton, muscles and joints of the body. Taichi helps to prevent
heart attacks and diabetes, relieves mental stress and increases
lung capacity and many more.
The
main people behind introducing Taichi are Mahesh Vilharanapathirana
and Manel Dharmakeerthie, the two of renowned International Wushu
judges and referees. They have learned Taichi from world famous
Chinese Wushu instructors such as Sifu Xia Mei Xia, Sifu Wang Quan
Yi, etc. Both of them are diploma holders in Wushu from IWUF. If
