By Shelton Hettiarachi, Nuwara Eliya correspondent
The body of a Sri Lankan youth, M. Sivasubramaniam (30) killed in
the Al Qaeda terrorist hold-up in a luxury housing complex in Saudi
Arabia last Saturday was brought to his Nuwara Eliya residence on
Friday, but the family complained that scant attention was given
by the Foreign Employment Bureau officials.
The
remains of Sivasubramaniam, one of the two Lankans killed in the
twenty-five-hour hold-up, was handed over to his relatives by the
Foreign Employment Bureau at the Katunayake Airport.
The
brother of the deceased, M. Mohanraj found fault with the Foreign
Employment Bureau for not assisting in the task of transporting
the body to the remote and hilly area in Nuwara Eliya where the
home of Sivasubramanium, is located.
He
further stated that Sivasubramaniam who had been working as a housekeeper
for the past three years in the housing complex which was attacked,
had not been insured and therefore his family was not entitled to
any compensation. |
