Brussels
lace and more for craft lovers
Andrea Boekel will hold her sale of exquisitely-crafted, hand-made
and hand-embroidered home beautiful items, on Saturday June 19.
Making Brussels Lace is a delicate, intricate and laborious process.
In Brussels, where the craft originated, items embellished with
this type of lace are prohibitively expensive.
Andrea,
who spearheaded a 'village labour resource' spirit in the early
90's, produces this lace locally using raw material imported from
Belgium. The items decorated with this lace are functional as well
as irresistibly beautiful.
Using
quality raw materials like Italian linen, the items on sale are
guaranteed to go down as heirlooms. Also on sale will be a range
of beautifully hand-embroidered items including shadow work table
cloths, napkins, table runners and cushion covers.
Another
feature of this sale will be interesting fabrics for crafters and
needlework lovers. Fine European linen, cross stitch fabric and
soft batiste, pretty prints and other prized fabrics will also be
available.
Laces
and braids, buttons and ribbons - the sale will be a place where
all crafters can pick up a bargain. Andrea maintains a reasonable
pricing structure. The items on sale will be affordable considering
the labour-intensive work, and are guaranteed to delight the receiver.
The sale will be held at No. 16, Kinross Avenue, Colombo 4, on June
19, from 9 a.m. onwards. |
