Murali
decides to skip Australian tour!
Sri Lanka's
champion off spinner Muttaih Muralitharan is certain to sit out
of next months two test tour of Australia.The Sunday Times learns
from highly reliable sources that the world record holder for the
highest number of wickets in tests will keep away from the two test
series following remarks made by the Australian public in the past
and their prime minister lately over his bowling action.
Muralitharan
who was contemplating on whether to go to Australia for the two
test series is expected to inform Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC) within
the next few days about his latest decision.
It was only
on Friday that Mr John Ah kit, Minister of Sports and recreation
of the Northern Territory Government of Australia delivered a personal
note to Muralitharan requesting him to forget about the Australian
prime ministers remarks and come on the tour. The letter was delivered
to Muralitharan by a Ministerial Advisor of the Northern Territory
Government Mr C. H. Seneviratne who was in Sri Lanka on a short
visit. |
