Trinity
down Vidyartha 20-11
By Aubrey Kuruppu
Trinity pulled off an unimpressive 20 points (4 tries) to 11 ( 1
try 2 penalties) win over Vidyartha in their inter school rugby
match played at Pallekele yesterday. At lemons, the winners led
15-3.
Trinity
kept play with the forwards and had a fair first half. Flanker Dhammika
Senerath, Jayakody and Prop Nalaka Thilinakumara scored for the
winners. The kicks at goal taken by full back Jayawardene were useful.
Thilinakumara
scored again in the second half to make it 20/3. For Vidyartha,
fly half Charitha Seneviratne put over two penalties. Vidyartha's
back division was delightful as they indulged in some sweeping moves,
with fly half Seneviratne having an impressive game.
The
last ten minutes or so were all Vidyartha as they capitalised on
a tiring defence. In this period, Milinda Bandara touched down to
reduce the deficit. Trinity's back division hardly got a touch on
the ball. To add to their woes, fly half. Ainaf limped off mid way
with a knee injury.
