  • King Valagamba goes into hiding again
    The king was greatly disturbed over the killing of Thanasiva. He knew it was quite foolish to live there anymore. He instructed the queen and the princes to bundle up whatever possessions they had and that very night they fled.
  • A Hindu style Buddhist temple
    King Narendra Sinha, who ruled from Kandy for 33 years (1707-1739) was the last of the Sinhalese kings. He married a princess from Madura in India but she bore him no children. After his death the throne passed over to the queen’s brother Sri Vijaya Rajasinha.
  • Royal Philex 2004
    The 60th Anniversary of the Philatelic Club of Royal College was commemorated in grand style with an exhibition of stamps, “Royal Philex 2004”. The exhibition, which was opened on July 7 at 3 p.m. at the National Art Gallery, went on from the 7th to the 9th July.
