Too
many snubs make JVP turn away
Sought appointment though not
UPFA leader
The JVP has decided to refrain from seeking further appointments
with President Chandrika Kumaratunga as she had regularly turned
down requests for appointments or failed to turn up, officials said.
The
decision has been made after she missed the UPFA steering committee
meeting on Friday despite the JVP making a request for the presence
of the President after pointing out that they had important issues
to discuss with her, they said. The JVP had sought the appointment
from the President, though she had resigned from the post of UPFA
leader.
On
Thursday, President Kumaratunga skiped a ceremony organised by the
Agricultural Ministry to mark the restoration of 1000 irrigation
tanks. However JVP propaganda secretary Wimal Weerawansa played
down the refusal to attend the meeting saying that the President
was indisposed. |
