UNP,
SLFP, JVP and CP to go to Beijing
The UNP, SLFP, JVP and the CP have been invited by the Communist
Party of China to attend the third International Conference of Asian
political parties to be held in Beijing from September 3 to 5 and
all the parties have confirmed that they would be sending their
representatives to the event.
The
local CP, which earlier had its allegiance to Moscow ( as opposed
to a separate CP that supported China ) has nominated its poltical
bureau members, Raja Collure and M.A.Razvi to attend the sessions.
Mr.
Collure told The Sunday Times he would be making a presentation
on one of themes for the event - Regional Security and Multilateral
Co-operation. The other themes are Economic Growth and Social progress
and National Development of political parties.
Mr.
Collure said that the CP in Sri Lanka which renewed its ties with
the Communist Party in China has been maintaining steady relations
with them and has been sending various levels of delegations for
meetings and conferences while in turn several Chinese CP delegations
also have visited them in Sri Lanka.
He
said that the CP in China maintains contact with various political
parties at different levels, though these parties were not following
Communist ideology. |
