‘Gini Kirilli released’
‘Gini Kirilli’, the maiden film direction of novelist, Sarath Dharmasiri has been released at the Regal cinema in Colombo and other CEL circuit cinemas from September 17.

The producer Niroshan Devapriya who is more popular for the production of commercial tagged films like ‘Kanyawiyage Rathriya’, ‘Kolamba Koloppam’ and ‘Wishma Rathriya’ has joined Sarath to make an artistic film as his sixth production.

Set in a remote dry zone village, Gini Kirilli depicts the life of a girl who is the victim of male chauvinism which is supported by the present legal and judicial system. The film stars Jayalath Manoratne, Jayani Senanayake, Cyril Wickremage, Athula Liyanage, Grace Ariyawimal, Suminda Sirisena, Meena Kumari, Helen Sylvester, Maureen Charuni and child actress Dulanjali Perera.

Gini Kirilli revolves around the life of a young girl, Kavi Amma played by Jayani Senanayake who is being abused by a married man in the village.

He is arrested and brought before court. The girl has to make regular visits to town to get justice done for her. The policeman, Jayalath who handles the case misuses her. At the same time she becomes a victim the lawyer’s clerk who appears for her. Meanwhile she starts an affair with the conductor of the bus in which she goes to the city.

The girl gets pregnant and all the men who used and misused her abandons her but she finds no reason to escape from. In the technical crew Dinesh Kumara was the cinematographer. Edited by M.S. Aliman Priyantha Perera was the art director. Maestro Premasiri Khemadasa arranged the musical score.
