JVP
wants MPs' pension scrapped
Calling on parliamentarians to act in an exemplary manner and not
to take unwarranted benefits at a time the people are struggling,
the JVP has proposed that the pensions given to MPs be scrapped.
A
party spokesman said this was one of the JVP proposals handed over
to Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama for consideration in next month's
budget. At present, an MP who serves for at least five years is
entitled to a pension. |
