take Interport Cup

The Madras Boat Club inched rivals Colombo Rowing
Club in the final FEARA fours event to claim the Interport Challenge
Cup. The victory also secured the VC Bath Interport Overall Trophy
for the Madras Boat Club.
The
CRC however did well to make the FEARA sculls final a home and home
affair, with the ladies managing to do the same for the FEARA women's
pairs. Mevan Gunewardena of CRC second it FEARA sculls title while
Niroshini Seneviratne (B) and Arya Ratnayake (S) second the FEARA
pairs trophy in the women's category.
The
MBC did well to secure the FEARA men's pairs title, FEARA men's
fours title, FEARA women's sculls title and FEARA women's fours
title. The MBC emerged a overall FEARA winners while the CBC managed
to secure the overall in interport title.
The
Regatta was a historic event for all participants, institutions
as it was the 30th instance of the event. The Regatta also marked
the 50th Anniversary of the FEARA and the 140th Anniversary of the
Colombo Rowing Club.
The
Regatta was a close contest between the two sub continent grants,
with Madras managing to hold out for the prestigious men's fours
title. It was the CRC interport winning "A" crew however
that secured both the finals of the regatta, clocking 3:29 for their
thousand metres. |
