OWSC schools six-a-side
Waduge steals the thunder

The outstation schools stole the limelight - with a team from Batticaloa district St. Michael's entering the second round. They meet Royal (bye) led by Dimitri Siriwardena today at the OWSC schools six-a-side cricket tournament at Campbell Park, yesterday.

The highlight of the day came from young Isuru Waduge of Kalutara Vidyalaya who captured four wickets in four balls and helped his team defeat their hometown rivals Holy Cross without much ado. Kalutara batting first made 47 for no loss with a stroke-filled 45 n.o, with (3 sixes) by Romesh Wickremasinghe. Holy Cross in reply was bowled out for 26.

Last year's runners-up St. Joseph's Darley Road take on St. Anthony's Katugastota in the second round, while Nalanda play Prince of Wales, studded with a bunch of pinch hitters. Seasoned Isipathana M.V. take on the "dark horses" for the Lemonade Trophy Kalutara Vidyalaya.

Host Wesley play their arch-rivals Kingswood, in Kandy. Today's play will commence at 9.00 a.m. five-overs a side. The final is at 4.30 p.m.
