HNB
re-launches senior citizens' account scheme
Hatton National Bank has re-launched the senior citizens’
account scheme with a host of new features after the previous scheme
ran into difficulties due to fluctuations in interest rates.
The
new scheme is also for those who are aged over 55, said HNB's deputy
general manager for personal banking, Chandula Abeywickrama. Account
holders will enjoy benefits such as payment of hospital bills, self-employment
loans as well as discounts and special offers.
Other
benefits include priority treatment at branches, free quarterly
cheque books, credit cards free of joining fee, waiver of service
charges on current accounts, free cashline card gift vouchers to
open Singithi Minor Savings accounts for grand children, and free
membership at Ceylinco Swift Care, which entitles member senior
citizens to a number of medical facilities.
HNB
will also pay its account holders' hospital bills. Under the Health
Plus Scheme members who are between the age of 55 and 70, maintaining
a savings or a term deposit of Rs.500,000 are to receive a free
health cover. Depending on the deposit maintained Health Plus will
pay up to Rs.10,000 per day for up to seven days for hospitalisation.
The
Senior Citizens account holders special "Business Aid"
category will identify skilled individuals between 55-60 years of
age who wish to start a self-employment project of their own to
keep themselves occupied and earn some extra income after retirement.
The chosen applicant will receive a loan of up to Rs.100,000 which
will be payable within four years. (LA) |
