Lessons
on road safety
Recent surveys reveal that over thirty seven percent of those who
succumb to injuries sustained in road accidents are not motorists,
but pedestrians.
Also,
many of those who are injured or killed are between the ages of
twenty-five to fifty-five and are thus in the productive age group
of the country.
A
pedestrian awareness programme geared towards educating pedestrians
and thus minimizing such accidents will be held on Wednesday at
the Railway Headquarters Auditorium.
The
programme, is organized in collaboration with the Transport Ministry
and the Traffic Police Headquarters
The
programme aims to educate the public on safety measures on the road,
and to equip them with the skills to make their own contribution
towards containing and minimizing the number of accidents. |
