Dilantha
shines at Chinese F1 circuit
The atmosphere was scorching, both on and off the track at Sinopec
Chinese F1 international circuit, China for a round 8 of the Porsche
Infineon carrere Cup Asia.
Shanghai
International circuit is a brand new circuit for F1 as well as for
Porsche Carrera Cup, it was magnificently built to the utter perfection
and F1 driver Michael Schumacher ranked this circuit best ever F1
track.
The
number nineteen car driver by IWS Holdings sponsored Dilantha Maligamuwa
was placed seventh in the 8th round clocking 27:28:757. Porsche
UK super car race winner J. Cocker came first in the race clocking
26:58:184. For 12 laps, he was invited by Porsche Asia Pacific to
participate as a guest driver for this inaugural Chinese F1 track.
A-Ha racings Mathew was leading the race till the end but unfortunately
he was given a 25 second penalty as he was driving dangerously to
block and not allow Rizal Ramli of Malaysia to overtake him, that
saw him finally finish the race in sixth position.
Dilantha
was qualified on the 10th position on the grid, which he completed
the 12 laps and finished the race on seventh position as Alex Young
the ex F1 driver who also participated in the Carrera Cup as a guest
driver had a tyre puncture and had to abandon the race after seven
excellent laps and Ringo Chong from Singapore had a technical problem
which also made him not complete the race, in which Dilantha Malagamuwa
grabbed the opportunity to complete the race in 7th position.
Final
race results were J. Cocker clocking 26:58:184 on first place, N.
Charoenukhawatana clocking 27:02:701 on second place and C. Kwan
clocking 27:04:485 on third place. Next race will be held at the
Taebaek International Circuit in Korea from 16th - 17th October
