‘Nilla
Penena Manaya’: Good and the bad

D. G. Somapala directed ‘Nilla
Penena Manaya’ having completed the filming part is in its
post production stage. The shooting in locations in and around Dambulla
area had taken nearly one month and the drama is being edited now.
His
earlier directions being Sandawathaka Varuna, Hima Ketayama, Dedunupalama
1 and 2, the latest Nille Penena Manaya is Somapala’s fifth
attempt at direction.
Highlighting
the importance of the farmer, the play revolves around a traditional
farming family and three sons there. The head of the family played
by G. R. Perera is conventional farmer who fights to give the rightful
place to his profession.
While
trying to give a sound education to his three sons, the father teaches
them the hard work in the field. Two of his sons complete their
education successfully while the other chooses a different path.
Joining the bad company he is involved in a number of illegal businesses.
Finally he leaves the village while his two brothers reaches prominent
places in society.
Having
learnt more and more illegal activities the prodigal son returns
to his village. Joining with another corrupt character there he
starts working against the very activities that his brothers and
father had engaged in. This brings about a fight between the good
and evil.
The
cast with number of newcomers includes, G. R. Perera, Deepani Silva,
Dharmapriya Dias, Tharaka Udani, Jayanath Bandara, Ruwan Wickremasinghe
and Dayadewa Edirisinghe. The teledrama produced by Saliya de Zoysa
