‘Rajjumala’
portrays an old fashioned village
Anura Chandrasiri’s film ‘Rajjumala’ will be released
in Regal, Colombo and the other thirteen CEL circuit cinemas from
October 28. The director, famed for his earlier works, “Thunweni
Eha” and “Sayanaye Sihinaya” has made this film
around the mysterious events happening in an elderly man’s
life which ends in a tragedy.
The
central figure in ‘Rajjumala’ is Sekara, who is a 40
year old man’s the last in a feudal family. He lives in the
decaying ancestral Walawwa with his paralyzed mother who still clings
on to the old traditional attitudes. The mother and son live with
Irene, the servant woman. The family is totally cut off from the
rest of the village.
Sekara
leads an unusual life and sees absurd dreams which disturbs him.
He also is a lover of music and dance and goes for concerts. One
day he meets a young female dancer and develops a friendship with
her.
But
one day Sekara finds the girl brutally murdered and this brings
nore confusions to his life. Sekara starts seeing more and more
horrible dreams from then onwards leading his life to a more chaotic
situation. And this leads to many changes in his life.
The
cast in Rajjumala are Dilhani Ekanayalke, Suwineetha Weerasinghe,
Roshan Pilapitiya, Kumara Jayakantha, Nirosha Herath, G. R. Perera,
Sunil Premakumara, Kumuduni Adikari, Vinee Weththasinghe, Ranjith
Gamini Perera, Gamini Jayalath and Bathiya Madanayake and Bandu
Samarasinghe who is more popular with comedy roles in commercials
is playing a serious role in ‘Rajjumala’.
Among
the technical crew Ruwan Costa handled the camera, Imal Shanaka
Peiris did make up and Sisirachandra Wijesinghe did the art direction.
Amarasiri Peiris and Uresha Ravihari did the play back singing to
the musical score written by young music director Nalaka Anjana
Kumara.
While
Kalyana Chandrasekara assisted in direction, story, dialogue, screenplay
the direction is by Anura Chandrasiri. The film was done in and
around the locations in Pelmadulla, Wadduwa and Panadura areas.
