Oshan,
Tharindu save the day for Bens
By Marlon Fernandopulle
A sixty run partnership for the 6th wicket between
Oshan de Silva (36) and Tharindu Heshan(30) saved St Benedict’s
from an inevitable defeat against Wesley College at Campbell Park
yesterday.
In
reply to Wesley's imposing first innings of 237 for 8 declared on
Friday' St Benedict’s were bundled out for 127 runs. Trailing
by 110 runs St Benedict’s were forced to follow-on and were
soon in deep trouble loosing half their side for just 58 runs. However
a stubborn 60 run stand for the sixth wicket between Oshan de Silva
and Tharindu Heshan saved the day for the Kotahena lads. Although
Wesley finally broke through, it came too late as the Benedictine
tail also stood up to the occasion.
