We
are flexible, says LTTE

LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran has told the Norwegians
that he is not insisting on every word in the Interim Self Governing
Authority (ISGA) proposal and he was ready to accommodate changes,
LTTE theoretician Anton Balasingham told The Sunday Times.
Mr.
Balasingham in an exclusive interview said this stand had been conveyed
by Mr. Prabhakaran to Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen and
other facilitators on Thursday during a two-hour meeting.
"Mr.
Prabhakaran argued on behalf of the ISGA explaining that we would
be flexible and that it was not a blue print that needs to be implemented
word to word. What we want is for the government to formally accept
the fact that we are running our own administration and initiate
talks based on our ISGA proposals," Mr. Balasingham said.
"We
will consent to come forward for peace talks only when the government
of President Kumaratunga recognizes ISGA proposals of the LTTE.
We are flexible," he said. |
