Scotland
advance into ICC final
Intercontinental Cup semi-final, Abu Dhabi:
Scotland advanced to the final of the ICC Intercontinental
Cup after having the best of a draw with Kenya.
Bonuses available in the three-day match saw Scotland take 19 points
to Kenya's 10.5, and they now face Canada.
Despite
setting Kenya a massive 607 to win after declaring on 401-7, the
Scots managed to take just four wickets.
Kyle Coetzer was the pick of the Scottish batsmen with 133 not out,
while Colin Smith made 93 and skipper Craig Wright 59.
Paul
Hoffmann was awarded the man of the match after astounding first
innings figures of 5-5 in 5.5 overs.
Resuming the final day 242-5, Scotland opted to secure the stalemate
and although Colin Smith was out seven short of a century, Coetzer
finished unbeaten.
Coetzer then bowled five overs for a single run but Kenya passed
their first-innings total after 35 overs with just one wicket down.
The
game was finally concluded when a young Kenya side, with no hope
of forcing victory, conceded the final hour at 163-4 after 52 overs.
Canada
advanced with 19.5 points from their draw with United Arab Emirates,
who gained 15.5.
But the hosts were in the hunt chasing 337 until medium-pacer Umar
Bhatti struck with 5-43 in the final session, leaving UAE 194-9
at the close.
