‘Alien
Accent at Gatsby’s
Having captivated a capacity crowd at Gatsby’s in their first
performance in two years, Alien Accent will be back for an ‘encore’
performance on Saturday, January 8.
Just
three weeks ago, Suresh and DK together with talented new vocalist
Dillain Joseph thrilled an appreciative audience in an intimate
unplugged concert. Their repertoire featured songs from the ‘Rites
of Passage’ album specially rearranged for the show.
The
cover songs also highlighted the trio’s trademark creative
arrangements and included songs by Sting, The Beatles, Fleetwood
Mac, Crowded House and many more classic rock legends.
Alien
Accent has made a name for themselves for their orginality. In 2001,
they recorded their critically acclaimed ‘Rites of Passage’
album in Los Angeles working with studio musicians of international
standard.
“Over
the years, we’ve worked with a variety of musicians,”
said Suresh, a founder member and songwriter for the band. “This
way we inject more creativity into our music.”
“Working
with Dillain has been very enjoyable,” said DK. “She’s
got a remarkable voice and adds a fascinating dimension to our usually
all-male harmonies.”
The
band will also feature the multi-talented Sureka on Flutes and Violin,
Lelum Ratnayake on Percussion, Nadeeka Jayawardena on Bass and Delai
Joseph on backing vocals.
The
warm sound of acoustic guitars played by Suresh and DK provides
that refreshing “unplugged” vibe that sets the mood
for a magical evening. And when the voices kick on you know that
you are about to witness a truly rare performance. If you couldn’t
make it for the first one. |
