Sanga in top ten
Two Sri Lankan Cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara
finished among the top ten batsman in tests during the year 2004
where Australian opener Justin Langer had the honour of accumilating
the most number of runs 1481 in 14 test matches.
The
former Sri Lanka captain Jayasuriya who came in for a lot of criticism
earlier in the year responded with his bat to aggregate 1130 runs
at an average of 56.50 and finished 7th in the list. Jayasuriya
scored four centuries including a double hundred and three half
centuries during this period and was involved in 11 tests.
Wicket
keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara was the other Lankan in the top
ten. Sangakkara accumilated 1114 runs at an average of 54.85 to
finish in 9 th position.He scored three centuries including a double
hundred and five half centuries in 11 tests. |
