NSB
sets up two funds for disaster relief
The National Savings Bank (NSB) has set up 'Shelter in Adversity
Fund' and ‘Children's Welfare Fund', two funds aimed at helping
in the tsunami disaster. The bank has decided to build dormitories
and individual houses in severely-affected areas and has contributed
Rs.25 million to the Shelter in Adversity Fund as an initial deposit.
The
Children's Welfare Fund has been set up in collaboration with Sri
Lanka Rupavahini Corporation to uplift and groom the lives of innocent
children who were victims. The account for 'National Savings Bank
& Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Children's Welfare
Fund' is presently functioning at the NSB Head Office Branch under
the account number 10001-08-82704. NSB in association with SLRC
intend to provide support for education, health and other welfare
needs of the victimised children, using the deposits of this fund.
"We
believe that shelter and the well-being of children should be given
high priority in the list of needs and necessities in this disastrous
situation.
Sri
Lankans are well known around the world for being warm and caring
and we are a nation with a unique legacy which doesn't need special
training to share love and affection with our own people. Therefore,
NSB shares this information with all the Sri Lankans and invite
all of them to contribute in the name of those who are in need,"
said Eastmen Narangoda, General Manager, NSB.
