UN
chief to meet TNA leaders
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has granted the pro-LTTE Tamil National
Alliance (TNA) a separate audience with him outside the all-party
meeting he is scheduled to have in Colombo this morning, senior
TNA leader R. Sambanthan told The Sunday Times last night.
Earlier
reports were that the TNA had been refused a separate meeting with
the UN Chief who was only to meet President Chandrika Kumaratunga
last night and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning,
separately.
Mr.
Sambanthan and Gajan Ponnambalam are to represent the TNA at the
8 am meeting which will precede a meeting of all-party leaders at
which the UNP will be represented by Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya.
The
TNA leaders are likely to go to Wanni soon for a meeting with LTTE
political wing leader S.P. Thamilselvan. This will be the first
meeting between the TNA and LTTE since the tsunami catastrophe. |
