Dinner
to prop SLC Disaster Relief Fund
The Sri Lankan Cricket Foundation in Victoria (Australia) had decided
to have a dinner at the Knox Tavern on Jan. 11, to raise funds for
Disaster Relief Fund. Duleep Mendis, CEO Sri Lanka Cricket said
in an interview with the Sunday Times.
David
Cruse a senior official of the SLCF and Managing Director of Knox
Tavern is the chief organizer of this dinner.
The
Lankans domiciled in Victoria has been in the forefront in helping
their motherland in their hour of need besides helping the talented
cricketers or otherwise to further uplift the country's image. The
man who really led from the front in whatever field was late Eddie
Gary, a patron saint of Sri Lankan boxing and an administrator par
excellence. David who was nursed by Gray will continue his good
work.
Major
General Janaka Perera, Dr. Quintus de Zylwa, Dr. Olga Mendis, Aster
de Silva, Dr. David Young, Bertie Ekanayake, Fred Van Buren and
many others will be rally around to help this humanitarian act.
People
from all walks of life suffered from this horrendous disaster. The
Australians, too will be there in their numbers to attend the dinner.
Mendis, commended the SLCF who has always been supportive a source
of inspirations to the SLC and for the development cricket. - BW
