Dinesh
Ambani, new Vice Chairman at Suntel
Suntel recently announced the appointment of Dinesh Ambani as Vice
Chairman to the Board of Management. Ambani a prominent local businessman
is also the Chairman of Metrocorp (Pvt) Ltd., Bogawantalawa Tea
Estates Ltd, Eco Power Holdings Ltd. and M G Consultants (Pvt) Ltd,
a Suntel statement said.
Suntel
is a joint venture company that brings together the resources and
expertise of Swedish telecom giant Overseas Telecom AB, Metropolitan
Group of companies, Townsend Limited of Hong Kong, the National
Development Bank, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC)
- a member of the World Bank Group.
Its
Board of Directors are Anders Ekman (Chairman), Dinesh Ambani (Vice
Chairman), Per Erik Fylking, Gunnar Andersson, Lillemor Larsson,
Lalith Ambani and Varun Bery.
Apart
from his several business interests, Ambani currently represents
Metrocorp and its affiliates which hold approximately 20% of Suntel
shares. He is also Suntel's founder Director and was responsible
in bringing Telia AB to the joint venture that formed the Company
back in 1996.
Commenting
on the company's future plans, he says "We are hopeful that
the authorities will take immediate measures to allocate the much
needed frequencies which will enable Suntel to take it's next phase
of the expansion" |
