SriLankan
Airlines in restructure mode
Speculation is rife about a major restructuring plan at SriLankan
Airlines but the airline has strongly denied reports that the national
carrier would be exiting from unprofitable routes, which would then
be taken over by its stakeholder Emirates Airlines.
SriLankan's
Communications chief Chandana De Silva, rejecting the reports, said
no airline would want to take over another's unprofitable routes.
He said that the management is in the process of restructuring in
a way profitable to the company but that nothing is finalized yet.
"The two companies (SriLankan and Emirates) are thinking of
synergizing the route structure to (positively impact on) revenue
for SriLankan Airlines," he said. |
